We’re building trust
in domestic work
WakaHelper is Uganda’s marketplace for safe, verified, and fairly-paid home help. Built in Kampala, for Ugandan families.
Our Mission
Millions of Ugandan families need trusted help in their homes. Millions of Ugandans need dignified, safe work. WakaHelper exists to connect the two — with honesty, transparency, and respect on both sides.
We started with one belief: house helpers, nannies, cooks, and caregivers deserve the same professional tools and protections as workers in any other industry. Visible salary ranges, identity verification, fair contracts, and a platform that refuses to tolerate exploitation — that’s what we’re building.

The Problem We’re Solving
Finding a house helper in Uganda today mostly happens through word of mouth — a cousin of a cousin, a neighbour’s recommendation, a WhatsApp group. It works, but it’s slow, limited, and carries real risks on both sides. Families have no way to verify who they’re welcoming into their home. Workers have no way to confirm a family is genuine and safe.
The scams are real. Workers are asked to pay fees to secure a job that doesn’t exist. Families are misled about skills and experience. Documents get withheld. Salaries go unpaid.
WakaHelper was built to change that. By requiring identity verification, displaying honest salary ranges, and giving both sides the tools to screen, communicate, and formalise their arrangements — we make the market safer and fairer for everyone.
What We Stand For
Safety first
Every user must verify their identity before accessing full features. We refuse to let the platform be used for exploitation.
Transparent pay
Every helper profile shows an expected salary range. No surprises, no lowball offers hidden in fine print.
Fair to workers
Workers are professionals. We build tools that treat them that way — contracts, reviews, salary visibility, protection from scams.
Trust on both sides
Families deserve to know who is in their home. Workers deserve to know the family is genuine. We build trust for both.
Local first
We price in Uganda Shillings, support MTN and Airtel Mobile Money, and speak to the Ugandan context — not a generic global template.
Legal compliance
We operate under Uganda's Employment Act 2006, PDPA 2019, and Children Act. Your rights are built into our platform.
