Getting Started
Is WakaHelper free to use?▼
Creating an account and browsing worker profiles is free for everyone. Workers can join and create profiles at no cost. Families pay a UGX 11,000 Prospective Profile (PP) fee to open a direct chat with a worker. Premium plans are available for families who want to message multiple workers freely.
How do I sign up?▼
Visit wakahelper.com and click "Get started." You'll be asked whether you're looking for help (Employer) or looking for work (Worker). Enter your phone number and follow the steps to create your profile.
What is WakaVerified?▼
WakaVerified means a user has submitted a government-issued ID (National ID or passport) and had it reviewed and confirmed by our team. The badge tells you the person is who they say they are. It does not mean a criminal background check has been done. See our WakaVerified Disclaimer for full details.
Which areas does WakaHelper cover?▼
We currently serve Kampala, Wakiso, Entebbe, Mukono, and surrounding areas. We are expanding to more districts regularly. Workers and families from other areas are welcome to sign up.

For Families
How does the UGX 11,000 PP unlock fee work?▼
When you find a worker you want to contact, you pay a one-time UGX 11,000 fee to open a direct chat with that specific worker. You pay once per worker — if you message the same person again later, you are not charged again. The fee is non-refundable once the chat thread is created.
Can I get a refund if the worker doesn't respond?▼
The PP unlock fee covers the opening of a chat thread, not a guarantee of response. If the worker does not reply, we unfortunately cannot refund the fee. However, if a technical error prevented the thread from being created, contact billing@wakahelper.com and we will investigate.
How do I create a contract?▼
After agreeing terms with a worker, go to your dashboard and select "Create contract." You'll enter the role, salary, start date, and contract type. Both parties receive a copy. The contract is a simple document — for complex situations we recommend involving a legal professional.
What if a worker I hired turns out to be problematic?▼
Report the worker using the Report button on their profile or email trust@wakahelper.com. If there is an immediate safety concern, contact Uganda Police (999). For employment disputes about pay or conduct, the district Labour Officer can mediate.

For Workers
Will I be charged anything as a worker?▼
Never. Creating a profile, getting WakaVerified, receiving messages, and applying for jobs is completely free for workers. Any person or agent asking you to pay to use WakaHelper or to access a job is running a scam. Report it immediately.
How long does WakaVerified take?▼
We aim to review submitted identity documents within 24 hours on business days. You will receive a notification once your verification is complete or if we need additional information.
Can I work for more than one family at a time?▼
Yes, unless your employment contract with a specific family specifies exclusivity. Many day workers work for multiple households. Be transparent with each employer about your schedule.
What do I do if an employer doesn't pay me?▼
First, address it directly with the employer in writing. If unresolved, contact the Labour Officer at your district headquarters — this service is free. You can also report the employer to us at trust@wakahelper.com so we can flag their account.
💳
Payments & Billing
What payment methods are accepted?▼
MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money, Visa, and Mastercard. All payments are processed securely by PesaPal.
I was charged but nothing happened. What do I do?▼
Email billing@wakahelper.com with your registered phone number or email and the transaction reference number from your PesaPal receipt. We will investigate within 3 business days.
Is my payment information stored on WakaHelper?▼
No. WakaHelper never stores card numbers, mobile money PINs, or full banking credentials. All payment processing happens on PesaPal's secure platform.
🔒
Safety & Trust
How do I report a scam or suspicious user?▼
Use the Report button on any profile or message, or email trust@wakahelper.com with details. We respond within 48 hours. For urgent safety concerns, contact Uganda Police (999) directly.
Can I see who viewed my profile?▼
Not currently. Profile view counts are visible to workers so they can gauge interest, but individual viewer identities are not shown.
How do I delete my account?▼
Go to Settings → Account → Delete account. Your profile will be removed immediately. Some data may be retained for legal compliance purposes as described in our Privacy Policy.
