WakaVerified Disclaimer
Waka Care Solutions • Kampala, Uganda • legal@wakahelper.com
The WakaVerified badge is displayed on Worker profiles that have passed our identity verification process. This document explains exactly what that badge means — and, critically, what it does not mean — so that Employers can make fully informed decisions when engaging Workers.
1. What WakaVerified Means
A Worker who holds WakaVerified status has:
- Submitted a government-issued identity document (National ID or passport) through the Platform’s secure upload system;
- Had that document reviewed by a Waka Care Solutions staff member; and
- Had their identity — name, date of birth, and document number — confirmed as matching the submitted document.
In short: WakaVerified confirms that the person is who they say they are.
2. What WakaVerified Does NOT Mean
WakaVerified is not a background check, character reference, or skills assessment. Specifically, the WakaVerified badge does not mean that Waka Care Solutions has:
- Conducted a criminal records check with Uganda Police or any other law enforcement agency;
- Verified the Worker’s employment history, previous employers, or references;
- Confirmed the accuracy of the Worker’s stated skills, qualifications, or certifications;
- Assessed the Worker’s suitability for any particular role or household;
- Vouched for the Worker’s character, reliability, honesty, or behaviour; or
- Confirmed that the Worker has no pending charges or criminal convictions.
3. Employer Responsibility
Employers must conduct their own due diligence before engaging any Worker, including WakaVerified Workers.We strongly recommend that Employers:
- Contact the Worker’s previous Employers directly and ask for verbal or written references;
- Conduct an in-person interview before offering a position;
- Implement a paid trial period before the Worker becomes responsible for unsupervised childcare or elderly care;
- Contact Uganda Police for a certificate of good conduct if required (available from any Police station for a small fee); and
- Trust your instincts — if something feels wrong, seek further information before proceeding.
4. Scope of Waka Care Solutions’ Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Ugandan law, Waka Care Solutions accepts no liability for any harm, loss, theft, injury, or damage caused by a WakaVerified Worker. The WakaVerified badge is an identity confirmation tool, not an endorsement or guarantee of any kind. Employers engage Workers entirely at their own risk.
5. Verification Process
The WakaVerified process works as follows:
- The Worker uploads their government-issued identity document in Settings → Verification tab.
- The document is stored in a private, secure cloud storage bucket — it is never publicly accessible.
- A Waka Care Solutions staff member reviews the document. Access is logged.
- If the document is valid and matches the account name, the Worker’s account is marked WakaVerified and they receive a confirmation notification.
- If the document is unclear, expired, or does not match, the Worker is asked to resubmit. If fraud is suspected, the account is suspended and referred for investigation.
Document images are deleted from our systems within 90 days of the verification decision. Identity numbers are retained encrypted for the lifetime of the account to prevent re-registration by banned users.
6. Revocation of WakaVerified Status
Waka Care Solutions may revoke WakaVerified status if:
- The Worker’s identity documents are found to be forged or fraudulent after the fact;
- The Worker changes their registered name and fails to resubmit updated documents; or
- Waka Care Solutions is notified of a criminal conviction or safeguarding concern that renders continued verification inappropriate.
